Substitute Personnel
& Business Services

Substitute’s Supported Employment Division, in cooperation with California’s Department of Rehabilitation and Alta Regional Center, assists adults with disabilities in finding, training and maintaining employment, and provides independent living skills training as needed. This program is highly successful because persons with disabilities have proven to be among the most dedicated, reliable and loyal employees around.

Aside from the satisfaction of ‘doing the right thing’ in hiring and accommodating a person with a disability, a huge plus for an employer is that there is a job coach on hand full time during the initial employment phase to do the actual training. The job coach continues one-on-one with the employee and phases out as the employee learns the job and becomes more and more independent. In some instances – depending on qualifying factors – the job coach continues to be available to the employee and employer throughout all the years of employment to assist with training of new responsibilities or to work through an issue that may arise.
