Whether you’re interested in becoming a temporary employee working through Substitute Personnel & Business Services, a direct-hire candidate for the positions our employers need filled, or both, please give us a call to set up an appointment to come in and register.
Identification
Upon your arrival, we will require two forms of acceptable ID as defined on the INS Form I-9, customarily a Driver’s License or State ID card and a Social Security card. Out of country identifications are not acceptable.
Paperwork
You must fill out an application, our standard employee agreement and other documents specific to our business. If you have a resume, please feel free to bring it so you won’t have to log your work history on our application.
The Interview Process
If you are looking for general labor work, you will proceed right to the interview. Specific work categories will be chosen at that time and any questions will be answered. If there is a particular issue or problem that we should be aware of, please let us know about it at this time.
Testing
If you’re looking for clerical, bookkeeping, accounting or other office work, you will be required to undergo some testing in addition to being interviewed. Depending on the number of skills you possess and your skill level, the testing can take 60 to 90 minutes. The testing process is not a pass or fail process, but designed to help us best utilize your strengths best when placing you in jobs.
Background
All applicants are expected to sign a waiver allowing us to contact previous employers to verify your past employment information.
Some important points you may want to consider:
- There is no cost to register with our agency.
- All employee and employer-business information is strictly confidential. You will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement. It is strictly enforced.
- When an assignment comes in those who are qualified for it, we begin calling and continue until we’ve made a match. We explain the dates, shift times, duties, pay, general location and length of the assignment. You determine whether or not to accept it. There is no penalty for turning down an assignment; however, if you accept one, it is expected that you complete that entire assignment.
- Paydays are every Wednesday for the previous Sunday through Saturday.
- There are no fees to you for any temp assignment. What we offer you is what we will pay you.
- Standard and customary taxes are withheld just as with any other California employer.
Direct Hire Positions
- A fee does apply when a direct-hire position is filled. The employer determines who will pay the fee. If a position is available and the employee will pay all or part of the fee, you will be told about it in writing even before you are recommended or sent on an interview. You will know where you stand at all times.
